kuma taking all the pain from the villagers adds so much context to zoro's moment in thriller bark

devil fruits don't deactivate in water though. remember when luffy was still stretching while under water in arlong park? her being in kid form doesn't have anything to do with the eddy. she was mostly in that form for whatever reason when the eddy happened. i think she's either a clone of ginny or not kuma's biological child. maybe part of the reason ginny was captured was cause she was trying to save or protect a child and that child ends up being bonney, and kuma ends up raising her in memory of ginny

ginny is a great character and quickly becoming one of my favorite flashback characters but people are trippin, she's not even in the top 10 op baddies

yeah but ginny obvi eating like bonnie does, she’s her mom

could just be a parallel or similar trait they share like any two people. let's just say i'm right and bonney is a child that ginny tried saved and kuma ended up raising, bonney's love of food could be something that makes kuma forge a connection with her because it's such a key trait of ginny and would remind him of his now dead partner
