so the theories about bonney being a child were right. personally i'm not a huge fan of that (not cause of the fan service reasons or whatever people are obsessing over) but cause it kinda seems like a twist just for the sake of it. maybe it'll come into play later on but i also wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those things that never really gets mentioned again. great chapter and backstory so far though, so it's not like it's ruined anything for me

also i feel like this is clearly setting up vegapunk being the one to cure bonney, most likely with kuma having to sacrifice himself. bonny mentioned being on egghead as a kid and the doctor at the end specifies "our current scientific understandings" which vegapunk obviously surpasses

Regarding how Luffy and the Straw Hats move, I wouldn't think about that with plot armor in mind but more so that Luffy and co is this upstart, off the handle force that's unpredictable and challenging the status quo haphazardly on their own vs the slow burn of fomenting revolution in multiple counties and building up your own stand alone revolutionary force
