Im sayin thruout elbaph i havent seen a whole lotta hype beyond those who are serioisly invested in one piece as fans

Compared to wano

Wano is widely critiqued as being the worst arc of the timeskip with a lot of missed potential

The hyped moment was gear 5 which is like goku going super saiyan for the first time of course its peak

But seeing the leader of the world government for the first time was close to the same level of hype. Had a couple anime only friends get immediately spoiled same day the chapter dropped through social media

I dont think thats true wano had hype throughout it had hella people going from watching the anime to reading the manga

I also dont know who hates wano that much besides like the internet nerds, i think most casual fans love it

None of my friends are talking about elbaph tbh

Wano had hype entering, and then it kinda lulled up until g5

People hated the fake out death with i cant remember his name, samurai ninja man

Casuals like it because they got the better version of it with the anime, Wano is objectively better in the anime than the manga

Doesn't even compare to the legendary Wano Sumo scene

Where's the chapter?

Honestly a lot of it is the fact that so many people (me included) were able to catch up on One piece for the very first time because of the pandemic. So with so many new eyes on it, Wano was extra hyped since it was the arc going on

Yea i also think roof piece was insane, i dont know why people hate on wano besides the questionable pacing

Oh yea the worst part of wano imo was the betrayal with kanjuro, i sorta wiped that out of my memory, it just made everything feel frustrating and nobody wanted to see that dude lol

But the entirety of roof piece was amazing imo

Yeah roof piece was the best of it

Just had years of hype as a location in itself, people expected it to be marineford level or better. Similar to Elbalf which is actually living up to that

Then areas that dropped the ball Kanjuro, Kinemon, Okiku, Oroch fake out deaths, Ryuma/Zoro, Tama being a Kurozugi being completely irrelevant, Big Mom pirates were basically useless outside of Perospero, Big Mom memory loss being a boring plot device, Chopper with convenient healing meds made on moments notice, Beast pirates were frauds and easily the weakest looking Yonko crew Oda did them a disservice, Kaido as a character is looked at night and day difference with how he was handled/lacked backstory.

It was an odd arc somehow felt like it dragged on and also felt rushed at the same time

Yea from a narrative perspective a lot of these are rly good points. Everything before roof piece was pretty garbage
