I think it’s important to note the differences in composition from current to when he got one shotted. He was supposed to be enraged, in ch 1000 he was so calm hence why his observation haki in general will be on full display now instead of then.

The thing I’m most curious about is how Kid, Killer, and Zoro will damage Kaido and Big Mom. They have to know Ryou, which means Zoro had known it already? But then it questions when did he learn it... The people from Wano moved and created his village so I’m guessing he learned the basis of it from his master and then when he learned haki he implemented it into that.

Kid and Killer idk though. Hawkins made it seem like their fight didn’t just end in a one shot so maybe they knew it already?

Roger, Shanks, Whitebeard... None of them had black blades and they all have better haki than Zoro.

I think the assumption (or maybe it was mentioned before?) is the more battles a sword has seen eventually it turns black which has lead everyone to assume that if there's only one of Zoro's swords that turns black it'll be Wado Ichimonji
