I thought they said he was gon kill Whitebeard, but Shanks stopped him. But never got confirmed tho. I cant really remember what was exactly said either. Would be interesting if Shanks stopped Kaido, cause he was actually gon help Whitebeard. Always thought it was odd Shanks popped up after WB already died

There was no sound confirmation, Marine HQ ASSUMED Kaido was going to fight Whitebeard but that was not confirmed. The fact it wasn't confirmed had people thinking MAYBE Kaido was going to help Whitebeard back when we first learned that Yamato knew Ace, that maybe there was a connection there between those two and her father.

Great point, but also it was never mentioned what Ace's intentions were trying to attack Kaido. It could be because of Tama and what Kaido has done to her community. There was never mention of Kaido feuding with Whitebeard or his subordinates. So im assuming Kaido wanted to stir s\*\*\* up because he wants to die and he knows only his old comrade, Whitebeard, can kill him.

It was never plainly mentioned but it was implied. This was before Ace even joined the Whitebeard pirates, back when he was captain of the Spades, just going around trying to make a name for himself so he looked to pick fights with the Yonko. Don't remember him trying anything with Big Mom and instead of trying to fight Shanks he instead thanked him for saving Luffy, but he wanted to fight Whitebeard for the fame and it's implied he wanted to fight Kaido for similar reasons.
