I was an only child and I didn’t notice problems with my self until I was around 16 (prime dating years). It was hard for me to care and love someone more than myself. All my life it was about entertaining myself and it’s hard to just adjust that out of my routine.
Another thing I notice about myself is all throughout school I was an exceptional writer and story teller. My imagination was always better and more vivid then my friends, due once again to entertaining myself.
Looking back somethings could have been different but I don’t waste much time looking backwards. I was blessed to have 5 friends in my life with 2 of those relationships lasting 20 years and the other 3 close to 20 years. Without them I would have to be with a therapist weekly, but they kept me balanced.

Growing as an only child made me accustomed to being alone, I enjoy and need to be alone most of the time but at the same time I feel weird about it, I don’t know how to explain it. Also when I go on vacation or spend weekends living with my friends I always end up getting tired/annoyed of the company. It gets me on my nerves even when I’m with the chillest people, I need some time alone

I think every only child thinks like that, do you have cousins you are a close with??

i grew up an only child, raised by a single mum with no immediate family in the country. but tbh, i think that state of being alone all the time is what caused me to be so interested in movies, music, art, forums, video games etc

Yeah, had two of them. They were kind of like brother and sister to me when I was young. But then I moved to the states at age 11 and basically it was only me, my mom and dad, no relatives here.
Friends is all I had.

444Nah family is extremely important. nobody got you & love you like family, even if u weren't blessed into a good family appreciate whatever good u have within it cause that s*** is genuinely worth the world

oh that sucks, I kinda lost the relationship with my cousins as I grew older but they were important parts of my childhood

I moved around a lot too as a kid so constantly had to make new friends the time period between being the new kid and only child at home was lonely but i don't think my imagination or hobbies would be as lit as they are now if I didn't go through childhood like that
