Between Rap Radar interview that lead to Life Is Good, WTSW, Chicago Freestyle, the leaks, The Boi-1da Verzuz where the Roddy Track and I Did track were teased, Oprahs Bank Account and late night IG live sessions that lead to DLDT to The IG posts that have been more vulnerable (Adonis and the encouraging posts), Popstar and Greece that lead to Headie One Only You Freestyle feature plus All I Need and Twist and Turn also in a way you can count the Ross vs Chainz Verzuz since he was basically versus himself at some point and LNCL being released leading to the album this has been a great pre-album era

What makes it better than those is it covers every base. We got the interview. We got to see a more socially open side of him on social media with the lives. He went on Quarantine Radio with Tory got to see the dynamic of their relationship and how it is. We got features covering all bases- Streets (LIG, and OBA), Universal appeal (Only You), Radio w/ Greece and PopStar.. we got Leaks that were later released and those covered different bases - D4L Freestyle, Pain 1993, Demons, FFWL all covered the streets while Not You Too, Time Flies and even Desires in a way covered R&b, WTSW, Chicago Freestyle, Losses, Deep Pockets is the introspective Drake we grew to love, Toosie Slide dominated TikTok and social media, Landed is the braggadocio we love, War is the universal appeal track. He’s been quiet (far as what the actual album sounds like) but making the most noise (far as being everywhere all the time since December)

I disagree with most of what you said except the fact that the leak ruined what Greece could have been - but I hear you for sure.

I think there’s this subtle revenge tone in laugh now that makes this so powerful

These still have the same cultural impact and if not, even more reach. But the music is better now for sure - sometimes I feel the way you’re feeling but I think a lot of the reasons we love specific music is because of that specific time in your life.

Also consider that he’s doing this during coronavirus. The music would be hitting and playing different if people could go outside and hear it at bars and clubs and radio stations.

Even the club appearances and the merch debuting, it’s all f***ed up because part of his rollout is usually seeing him rock the merch and perform the singles at surprise appearances. It’s a totally different dynamic

Songs just don’t last that long right now because of the conditions. Drake might be the only one to be able to make s*** last even during a pandemic (that’s the fan in me talking tho)
