2024 coming for 2014

2014 was arguably one of the most inconsequential years we had in a long time in terms of media, news, & cultural moments and here we are now 10 years later on 1969 levels of historical/cultural moments across the spectrum

2014 laid the groundwork for this current moment in many ways honestly

ISIS & Ebola media frenzy, Midterm elections, Trump exploring a possible run for president…

Is there a single album from that year that I still listen to? I honestly don’t think so. Lots of great movies though. Interstellar, Grand Budapest Hotel just off the top of my head.

To me the first half of 2014 was what normal is supposed to feel like. But once ISIS dropped that first beheading video… The vibes kind of shifted. Obama tan suit debacle… then 2015 things started moving faster… and 2016 was off to the races and we haven’t caught our breath since. I pray that one day we will.

We were still in an era in 2013 where the rhetoric we see on social media today was still quarantined to certain communities a la 4chan, liveleak, and also certain Twitter communities but was also rapidly seeping in from 2013/early 2014 through Twitter and also Facebook was just starting to turn from a chronological timeline of just your friends posts to algorithmic echo chambers of groups with your conformation bias to whichever narrative you've been served up is reassured
