i'm sorry if this upset you but this was funny and memorable

They actually got best picture right two years in a row who would’ve thought
They did not get it right last year

Anora is a really good movie, I like it a lot but Nickel Boys is generational
I don't think this was anywhere near PTA's best efforts, but I'm very happy he finally got best picture and best director.

That was the first interesting pick in like 15 years. It’s the kind of seedy 90’s movie that cinephiles praise, but the academy normally ignores. It winning as hard as it did was a weird, but welcome anomaly.

vfx & costume design wins at the most
my hot take, related to what we've been talking about, is i would strongly consider cutting the short films from the oscars. make it a separate ceremony.
when is the last time any of you saw a short documentary feature in a theater? i cant remember ever seeing a short doc even available for me to attend
Film set painter
Got to do some scenic work on that which means I got to get a little artsy with it
Super cool!

I saw all 15 nominated shorts in a theater
I saw all 15 nominated shorts in a theater
When and where? I was literally wondering last night how the average person would even be able to see new short films, I’ve never seen them playing anywhere

wow interesting. my understanding is maybe they release them in theaters in a very limited run in NYC/LA which lets them be oscar eligible, but they arent released widely.
i'm not trying to kill short films as an artform but i would separate them out to give more time to features in the oscars ceremony like we've been speaking of. have another night for short film awards. dont think the average viewer has ever heard of any of the shorts

Live action and animated shorts were playing in the same program at Cinemark, the documentary shorts were playing at a Georgia Theatre Company theater

I don't know how eligibility for the shorts works but yeah I don't have any opportunity to watch them in theaters until they've already received Oscar nominations and even then they only play for a few days, not even a full week
