Saltburn has gotten a lot of hype. 0 noms
They nominated Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell's first film, and that was absolute mid.
They clearly haven't . Also I think diversity in general isnt just about race gender but also a variety of backgrounds and wealth classes. Why should these awards be decided by primarily rich white men? What makes them the arbiters of art at all?
The Oscars began when like 3 studios decided to give themselves awards. That's why it exists. It's a self suck. Always been
no Godland anywhere
Godland and Pacifiction started doing festivals in 2022. Don't think either had am Academy friendly rollout
I think we can safely say the moonlight mixup was faked
Seems like way too big of a f*** up to be staged. Oscars take themselves super seriously and that just made them look incompetent.
Only Best Picture went to 10
that makes no sense

Self suck 😂
"According to a February 2012 study conducted by the Los Angeles Times (sampling over 5,000 of its 5,765 members), the Academy at that time was 94% white, 77% male, 86% age 50 or older, and had a median age of 62"
"The A2020 initiative was announced in January 2016 to double the number of women and people of color in membership by 2020."
Those initial figures are alarming. And I question if things have actually changed in any meaningful way.
Doubling the number of people of color when it’s 94% white is hilarious

I get that but thats why I get annoyed when yearly people cry about snubs or bullshit why entertain it to that degree or get emotionally invested
trying my best not to hate on Sterling K Brown :)
great actor, wonderful actor. not in that role
100% I need someone to explain to me what was good about that performance. Him over Charles Melton is embarrassing.

Apparently the number of members has doubled since then (2023 data - 10500 members)
But according to this (from 2022), 81% of them are white

they didn't just nominate it they actually gave her the Oscar for screenplay
Guys, Penelope Cruz was TERRIBLE in Ferrari
Completely one note performance that hurt the film.

2020 was bubble ball. This is her Oscar
