Bro
I wouldnt be angry if the brutalist wins for score. Yes challengers score was amazing and out there but brutalist also has amazing usage if the music, and time piece sound.
Wait just googled… how is challengers not nominated
The academy conspired against Luca.
Challengers and Queer both being shut out is inexplicable

Makes you extra thankful for the Kirsten Dunsts and Carrie Coons of the world
Without them we'd really be cooked
It's wild that they're comfortable saying stuff like that out loud
I know it's anonymous but how do you not feel any sort of shame

📸 ALBUM : Oscars Nominees Dinner
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles
Demi Moore (Best Actress nominee for THE SUBSTANCE)
Jeremy Strong (Best Supporting Actor nominee for THE APPRENTICE)
Denis Villeneuve and Tanya Lapointe (Producers for Best Picture nominee DUNE: PART TWO)
Mikey Madison (Best Actress nominee for ANORA)
Adrien Brody (Best Actor nominee for THE BRUTALIST)
Why did Denis even show up after being disrespected like that? Almost as bad as Weeknd performing at the Grammies lol

I wanted to check out queer. How was it?
Wait who said this?
From this article in the tweet.
The casting director academy member they interviewed had not seen Dune, Nickel Boys, and said they had seen "parts" of The Substance and The Brutalist. They then said they wanted Amy Adams and Nightbitch to get recognized.

Really loved it
Daniel Craig was incredible, score was amazing, the set design was totally brilliant
Wildly underappreciated film because there was gay s***in it

S*** like this is absolutely crazy to say, even anonymously:
Director: I'm bummed because I haven't seen The Substance or I'm Still Here yet. The first Dune, I couldn't get through; I'm not rushing for another three hours of Dune. There's still time to re-evaluate, but I really struggled. Knowing myself, Anora or The Brutalist I'd expect myself to vote for, but I found one of them a bit silly, one of them exploitative. I'm sad to say, it's a process of elimination guiding me to A Complete Unknown and not passion for these works. Hearing myself say these things, perhaps I should abstain. I think, after a talk with my therapist, I will probably abstain altogether.
Where do they find these people???

The only course of action that could possibly correct this is forcing voters to release their ballots + justification publicly and with their name attached or lose their vote.
I'm not sure how you could reliably verify that every Academy member has watched every feature film, documentary, and short, but at the very least there has to be some accountability involved. There is just simply no excuse for not having watched every picture that's up for an award. There are only 50 projects nominated for at least one award, with 15 of those being shorts. You really don't deserve to be an Academy member if that's too much for you to get through in a calendar year. And there aren't any availability issues for Academy members either - it's not like they have to be in LA or NYC to see this stuff.
The Academy obviously has a troublesome past littered with discrimination and exclusion, and yet somehow they are still finding ways to kill their credibility even more year after year.
