The shoes felt way more special and exclusive back then,even in the 2000s. Only person I knew when I was a kid that just wore Jordan’s was my cousin in HS and he sold d****. He knew someone who went to ATL on the weekends and he’d get him to go to sneaker shops to cop him Jordan’s. Bro use to wear em with Girbaud jeans with the rubberband,only pair I remember he had exactly was the infrared 4s.

This was around 05-06 and I was middle school,knew 0 people who actually wore Jordan’s that weren’t team ones. Maybe I was just young but there was a certain magic and prestige to having a few pair of numbered Jordan’s back then.

I doubt it,(but maybe)I think the combination of Hip Hop,the whole aesthetic of Jordan Brand back then and how the commercials for Jordan’s didn’t try to sell the shoes but portrayed an image helped a lot. Jordan’s for how mainstream it was still maintained an iykyk image back then. Nike tries to sell the shoes way too much now,everyone wants a pair of Jordan’s.
