Because wearing it for its purpose would, ironically be a waste of money.

It won't protect you or be more effective than good regular name brands

you could say that with anything designer, for example the brand ‘and wander’ is made in Japan with Japanese fabrics and designed by former members of the Issey miyake design team, all that s*** hikes up the price, could you get the same protection with a decent piece of gear, yes, but that’s not what your paying for

no one in this thread is s***ting on anyone who chooses to wear non designer gear

I dunno why you would get mad at anyone for spending their own money (regardless of how expensive it is) on clothes they want to wear

also this the fashion section first and foremost.. not the functional clothing section.. prolly why there is more of an emphasis on designer s*** tbh

I do agree to a point that this trend is kind of silly since majority of this gear is meant to be actually worn outdoors & a ton of people are buying s*** just to resell and post up indoors.

I will say though, a lot of outdoor gear does have a decent-high price point and its kind of classist in a way, because its usually people and hobbyists with the most money who get the gear that some people need to survive. That being said, I live in the PNW where outdoors wear is a standard uniform, and some of the most regular people wear gear that they’ve had or has been passed down from 10,20,30 ago & since then the value has inflated tenfold. The current trending of this style is kind of stupid imo, but its not difficult to amass a daily outfit worth over 1k

i have the gtx mid but only purchased recently. only worn for 12hrs total probably so far.

they break in quick (mine are almost perfect now) and are pretty light/slim. in terms of ventilation i dont really have a point of comparison (been using my dad's s***ty old ones until now) but i haven't gotten sweaty or anything.

if you're getting them muddy then they may be a bit annoying to clean regularly. there are a few intricate bits on sole and upper where it can get stuck.

overall very good value but as i say i only have 20+ year old ones to compare them to. was considering merrells myself (outdoor voices cute coloured ones ) but they seemed too bulky.

also looked at keen and la sportiva boots but these seemed like the most surefire option to me
