What about the people who are 35+
Or a 50 year old diddy calling drake top 5 all time

Diddy has an obligation to listen to drake as a part of his status in hip hop. doesn't make his opinion hold any more weight. and i didn't say any age group exclusively listens to drake lol. but something tells me there isn't any reputable data breaking down artist listeners by age group so this is really a failing argument youre making.

Breh MMLP was left field as s***. It's dark was left field as s***. Hell outkast's entire discography after their debut was left field as hell.

so? That was still pre Kanye rap. You see what happened to Eminem when he tried that dumb s*** now. S*** was absolutely garbage and nobody wants it.

You’re missing the point and it’s honestly annoying me a bit. I’m talking Kenny in this era. He gave us GKMC which while still being a lyrical body of work was more accessible and easier to digest from a casual pov. He was huge in 2012/2013 off that and had he continued doing that type of music he’d be #1. But he didn’t do that. He made TPAB which was as far away as you could get from easily digestible in today’s climate.

Well for one he's a label exec. Two he still makes music. And three, he clearly has a need to keep up with the happenings of the industry he works in lmfao.

    No

    The argument was as follows

"instagram captions by 16 year olds doesn't make you relatable"

"drakes teenage fans have grown up thinking that he's all there is"

no where in these two statements does "only teenagers listen to drake" exist.

You gave 0 reasoning as to why Diddy would put Drake in his top 5. Keeping up good relations isn't putting someone in your top 5 of all time

    synop getting heated

  • May 12, 2020

Kinda off topic but Drake at his best rapping wise is an interesting cat to look at

When you look at other GOATs like Em and Jay and Big and such, even someone not considered as technical like Pac, there's this standard of mutisyllabic rhymes and structuring rhyme schemes in like a mathematical way (I mean that's how things were back then you had to do it like that to be valid)

But Drake doesn't do this (and perhaps it's a result of standards changing and multis going outta fashion), but it isn't a limitation to everything Drake does INSIDE the bars, which is the crazy part. For everything he lacks in structural complexity he makes up for in putting every bar exactly where it needs to be

Drake almost approaches bars like an author rather than a rapper; more focus on poetic devices and internal rhymes to create imagery and let that do the talking rather than wowing listeners with how adventurous the structure itself is (see Eminem)

Funny enough, this is exactly what I see when I examine Pusha T's bars: straight to the point structurally in service of every bar hitting in a literary fashion

I recommend Care Package for some of Drake's best displays of this skill btw

    - BRAVE
