Me and my homies were discussing this last night.
I think the two worst things that came from the streaming era is
1) fans being insufferable more than ever about record sales even though it’s easier than ever to manipulate the sales.
2) over saturation: artist have an incentive to release as much music as possible regardless of the quality.
What about the biggest benefit?
dont even see how its all that convienent.
U can access ur music anywhere on any device

A lot better then downloading mixtapes then putting on a chip or uploading to phone
Idk about the biggest benefit, but the fact that it leaves s*** open is a double edge sword. Wasnt this easy to get noticed before. But also makes a whole lotta mid relevant
Creatively and hobby, streaming is a great tool for music nerds who still dig. but most people just listen to what the algorithm gives em.
connivence and storage, i would never download the albums i listen to now because it would be a waste of storage, i like how i get to have my cake and eat it too
Bigger platform for smaller artists to get a foothold
Much easier to check out new music when there is no downloading a DATPIFF EXCLUSIVE mixtape
It might be easier for labels to f*** over artists because now they’re not getting much off streams and depending on what their fan base is like they can’t show actual sales. That could be a benefit.
less well known artists getting number 1 albums cause their fans still purchase music
Also artists trying to boost numbers with extra tracks.
Wouldn’t have gotten a 25 track drake album, double Uzi or double Nav album before streaming

Drake was still dropping long projects before streaming
