I noticed Oz Perkins has a knack for using violence as horror and often the intended effect is hit or miss

Damn, Oz is on a little run rn.
Was extremely underwhelmed with Longlegs but definitely intrigued by the premise of this movie and the actors involved
Might be team floor now. Usually never sit down here but these chairs to near flat
Enjoy
I’m watching on Wednesday
Just got back from an early screening, pretty fun movie and definitely more of an enjoyable/accessible one than Longlegs was (though Longlegs is still great imo). Very heavy on the dark comedy aspect (and it does veer into absurdist territory from time to time), which was to be expected. Wasn't expecting how some of those deaths turned out at all from the trailers so that was also great to witness. Looking forward to seeing what Perkins has next up his sleeve yet again (which per the Q&A, should be in October with this movie he shot with Tatiana Maslany) 7.5/10

Goddamn, this man is putting in that WORK.
3 movies in just over a year. Crazy.
Just out of my screening and honestly Perkins is becoming one of my favorite directors in the genre just based off this and Longlegs. Stylistically and tone wise they’re very different but they also share incredible cinematography and a vehicle for great performances. This is the best I’ve ever seen Theo James. Elijah Wood isn’t very present in the film as much as I thought though, more like a cameo. But Tatiana Maslany has a lot of great material to work with. The kills made me very reminiscent of Final Destination, but where that finds itself locked in the intricacies of how the kill happens, this is just like immediate f***ed up death which I thought made it stand its own. It’s very much a comedy as much a horror, and probably one of my favorite blends of the genres in recent times. Definitely worth checking out
8/10
The Monkey is Final Destination via Stephen King. That’s not a bad thing at all, I quite liked this movie, but it didn’t feel wholly original. This might have my favorite Theo James performance but that’s probably because I’ve seen him in so few films. The kills were really the highlight of the film, but they’re strung together with a solid plot. I don’t feel this is quite as good as Longlegs but I’m liking Osgood’s recent output.
3.5/5
Feel like i loved this way more than anyone else on here lol I can’t really think of anything bad to say about it other than the jokes not landing in like 2 or 3 scenes . Had everything I ever could've wanted from an oz Perkins film . Went from being mildly interested in watching it back when it was announced, to me seeing it landing on my top 5 of the year already . Bloody fun and hilarious 9/10
Theo James is really hot and sold being two different people in this which is really hard to do
This goes hard
Thank you! All praises to the Monkey!
better man + the monkey = monkey man?
Lol. Looney Toons ass movie.
