I'm of the opinion that Iommi heard the riff by The Pretty Things (known as the gnarliest dudes in the British Invasion) at 0:35 in 1968 and decided it had potential to spawn a whole new strain of rock if beefed up and formed Sabbath

tbh the last album they released together (Sabbath that is) was really good IMO...Ozzy still got it too even if his voice isn't quite what it used to be

sounded great on the tour... even his in between song banter was coherent definitely off whatever pills he was on during the show (didnt watch but saw snippets)
