Had it poppin right before Kendrick started holding it down for Compton. Niggas like Pac Div, UNI, and Blu already set the tone. They were considered the “New West”
Used to love catching the Whiplash vid on MTV Jams before school started. Felt like they were apart of that initial post-Kanye wave. Was cool to see hip hop artists like this getting more attention. I was heavy on Cool Kids and the artists from that 08 XXL cover, especially Curren$y
At the time I was getting into streetwear like Diamond, 10 Deep, Stussy. Used to want Jordans and Dunks. I was tryna shop at boutiques instead of the mall lol I was playing EA Skate all the time. Pac Div was part of the soundtrack to that era in my life
