they saying its similar in style to Tarantinos Hollywood movie, so wouldn't really say it'll be a self suck movie
regardless I think Chazelle one of the few young filmmakers in Hollywood worth a damn, so I'm in for this. First Man is one of my favs of the 10s.
Chazelle is not making a Tarantino movie lol. There are no details beyond the setting, and it's not even the same era of Hollywood. Sounds closer to Hail, Caesar!
I enjoyed Whiplash and Grand Piano, but as soon as he could pivot to boring Oscar bait he did.

Well, Hail, Caesar is a great film so if hes going for something like that, sounds dope
and I'd honestly say La La Land and First Man especially were much stronger films than Whiplash, which felt like a student film, albeit a great one
Tarentino droppin his OUATIH novel next week
With Margo’s feet on the cover
Definitely gonna pick it up

You've never seen a student film lol.

I mean most student films are obviously much cheaper in production, way shorter (like usually 5-10 mins), etc.
but honestly a lot of the shot compositions and storytelling methods of Whiplash just feel like exactly what a NYU film student would do. It feels more often like what someone is doing to get an A rather than someone doing something truly new besides the ending which is obviously incredible.

Something new, like remaking La La Land for the fourth time

La La Land wasn’t new but it was a very well executed musical in a time where the genre was dead, especially within the style of Jacques Demy. I’d def say First Man is a very unique film though and it’s very committed in its mission to not play things safe in a story that easily could have been.
I have zero idea why you think this is just going to be La La Land 2.0

First Man is fire? Still need to watch, I’m a fan of Damien too.

Any specific place to cop?

Yeah its my fav from him. Very lowkey and got almost a Malick-esque vibe to it, tho its unquestionably Chazelle through and through. Big introverted vibes through the whole thing as well.

Is the OUATIH novel coming out as hard cover or just paper? Only seeing paper for pre order
Lmao I just realised I never took out Tobey from the title... guess I had faith 😊
All the new additions are very good this is gonna be insane.
