This is a movie that makes rich people feel good about liking a movie that supposedly critiques the rich when all it actually does is vilify the poor.

I'm not surprised that it appealed so deeply to The Oscar Committee. It’s a blatantly pro-classism film that you can’t get away with making in Europe or America, veiled in just enough weirdness to look like irony if you don’t think about it too long.
