I was wondering if he subtly changed the name for the adaptation but that doesn’t make sense cause Vineland is a place it’s based on lol

Inherent Vice the movie was a super faithful adaptation, so it could be the case that Pynchon is up your alley. He has a specific style. Run-on sentences, jumping back and forth between a bunch of different characters, some type of conspiracy, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the most niche subcultures. There’s wacky madcap comedy mixed with melancholy. As an author he has a reputation of being challenging but Vineland is among his more fun and accessible. And it feels like a spiritual sequel to IV. I think the book is great. I recommend it.

good shout
always heard good word of mouth about his stuff like Gravity’s Rainbow but seemed impenetrable & intimidating to get thru at the time for me, mainly bc I was younger when Inherent Vice first came out
i’ve gotten into noir literature/films heavy in that time since then so I’m sure I’d be cool with sinking into his sorta writing style now, I’ve reading nonfiction for a minute now so I might peep it once I have time to begin reading thru Heat 2 first
