BAFTAs were 4/4 last year with predicting the Actor winners
edit: they were 4/4 in 2024 too
Paul said the christmas adventurer house in the movie was Ronald Reagan’s house
That makes a lot of sense.

this the last movie that needs a sequel
she probably said to pta 'man it would be crazy if we did a sequel' and he was like 'trueeee, would be insane' and thats it and we will never hear anything else about it
although......him and leo did compare this to star wars

I could see him being a producer on it and having someone else direct

Exactly what I was thinking. I just picture her being super hype and him just politely nodding like “yea yea, omg you’re awesome and passionate”
And then proceeds to continue writing his Denzel Jazz movie once she leaves lol
Watched this last night, good but not great imo. I don't see why it's getting all these awards and s***
I don't see what this movie brings to the table that's WAY different/better than something like eg The Nice Guys. Better than some of the other movies I've seen that's been in this position lately (like EEAAO) but I watch these highly praised movies and it's like...that's it??
Feel like it's a movie that's benefitting off the real world climate rather than the movie itself (Blackkklansman). And the movie doesn't even say much with its politics - conservatives are racist, liberals are pretentious, government participates in false flags. The racist government are the bad guys, you have to root for the characters who were part of a terrorist organisation because they fought against this government
Movie was well shot but I did think the scene where the Sensei is taking Leo to charge his phone was overdone. Gave me Marvellous Mrs Maisel vibes like I'm supposed to sit there impressed "Wow, it's all seamless and there's so much going on
" when I just find it drawn out and the yelling/Leo stumbling around looking for a charger isn't funny. Also hated the shot where Leo is running across a bridge wearing shades with dozens of police officers below him, like none of them looked up and saw him
You're on the run from police and run across a bridge where tons of officers are right below you, you couldn't find another route my nigga??
Whole plot of the movie was odd too. Why is Teyana f***ing Lockjaw. His weird behaviour with Willa after he finds out that's his daughter, like he's trying to be her father and also hates her/arranges to have her killed. Somehow the black mother ends up being the deadbeat
All in all, not a bad movie. But is this really the peak of cinema? I still need to watch Sinners but the bar is low imo

this is some of the most nitpickiest things ive seen on this site

Wouldn't be so critical of the movie if it wasn't so highly praised. My expectations were high and I was disappointed by 2 hours of Leonardo DiCaprio playing The Dude if he was a former revolutionary
I don't watch many movies but if this is the pinnacle, the medium has fallen off hard. This is like a 7/10 movie. Like I said, Ima watch Sinners soon. But I'll be surprised if the competition between them really is tight, this movie really wasn't all that
