Rian Johnson: "I don't think One Battle After Another can be over-hyped. You're going to hear alot of what sounds like awards season hyperbole about it, but it's not - the movie is undeniable, it really is that good. And it's a big funny entertaining action movie, but also much more"
looking forward to seeing how the public reacts to this... sounds like a film that could have a good word of mouth

A detailed overview of the conversation between Spielberg and PTA after last night’s screening. Some really cool stuff in here. I assume the audio will be released later as a DGA The Director’s Cut podcast episode.
this is a great read, love that he's elaborating mostly on how the different collaborations worked out

hell nah, do ppl just forget Qui-Gon Jin, Darth Maul, pod race etc exist? all the worldbuilding and designs of the prequels alone aged so well. who even remembers anything about sequels and their convoluted nostalgia tale?
no one would not consider the prequel story canon, and they managed to join that onto one of the most iconic trilogies/ epics in film history.
imo Lucas achieved so much with the prequel trilogy. to me it'll always set the bar for how imaginative and lived-in you can construct a sci-fi world or tell an epic. the fact that literally every line from it is a meme today yes is due to it being corny but it's also iconic idgaf

People forget/don't know he asked Ron Howard and more to direct TPM:
"He didn’t necessarily want to direct them. He told me he had talked to Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, and me. I was the third one he spoke to. They all said the same thing: ‘George, you should do it.’ I don’t think anybody wanted to follow-up that act at the time. It was an honor, but it would’ve been too daunting."

I dont like s***ting on kid actors but kid anakin makes it unwatchable for me, way worse than the jar jar binks stuff and its not even mostly his fault he was doing what he could with that awful writing
The raves keep rolling in with each new screening
