I think the movie would be a lot stronger with the romance being the story moving the plot while the main focus is something else. Like boogie nights is about diggler, but moreso about the transition from 70s to 80s culture. I don't think Alanas character is a "pedo" she's a flawed human and I'm happy to see flawed people portrayed, just don't think she's interesting enough to spend a film with

Does she think she is one? That could be the point the movie is making. Compared to a film like Happiness where the pedo hurts a young child, this film has a much closer age difference to show what might happen if both parties are consenting.

Yeah I don’t get that especially when the movie is very open about how taboo the relationship is, it’s not really subtle at all

As much as I agree with you and @twitch , the amount of grown men wylin back in that day kinda proves that s*** like this was normalized though.
Her saying that s*** felt like more of her trying to do the right thing as opposed to what was actually going on idk
