More studios need to start using Vimeo, Reeves shared every Batman trailer there and they look crisp as hell
yup I agree but I think the platform is more crisp because of the lack of actual content on there = more crisp videos since lack of total service space being used up
her not getting a supporting oscar nom for this scene is snub of the year

her scene was like 10 minutes long
actors have won supporting actor before for the same screen time, was easily the funniest scene in the movie for me

i mean im not disagreeing about her performance but I at the very least would have preferred Alana to be nominated for something
This movie's f***ing dope. Paul Thomas Anderson has a beautiful mind, I can't believe he keeps bringing s*** like this to life.

then you got idiots like "what's the point? nothing happens? so boring I barely finished it" SMH

I think I sorta get where they're coming from. There was a time I didn't understand PTA films, I hated The Master and There Will Be Blood and thought I will never enjoy a movie by him.
I later revisited There Will Be Blood for one reason or another, and I don't know how but I suddenly had the patience for it. It allowed me to enjoy Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which allowed me to revisit and enjoy The Master, which made me love Paul Thomas Anderson and explore a lot of things he's touched, seriously, I even read up on his personal life, watched some music videos he did, shorts, etc.
Anyway, I think I'm just saying everyone is somewhere on their film watching journey. I was once that guy, yelling that there was no happy ending in There Will Be Blood, angry that I just sat down for 2 hours or so and watched an perverted alcoholic fail to change in The Master.
Now I'm here, marveling yet another f***ed up story, a 25 (28) year old falling in love with a 15 year old.

I totally agree lol just hate when someone completely writes off a great piece of work because it's not what they're used to...I was and still am guilty of it though from time to time so really can't judge lol I remember HATING Sideways when I was younger like "really this is just about middle aged people obsessed with wine and f***ing?"
watched it again recently and actually found myself laughing at more of the quirky humor and "getting" the point of the film...so I can totally "get" someone watching Licorice Pizza and walking away like "what was the point?" because there isn't some big twist and it is more of a hang out movie...same could be said for Dazed and Confused back in the day like "we really just watching high school kids do high school s*** and that's it?"
I still don't think the point of Licorice Pizza is her falling in love with him...it's a study of attraction...his attraction to her is more sexual/romantic than hers is for him...she's mainly attracted to Gary bc of his ambition and how he treats her like she's important which no other man in her life really does...sure they kiss at the end but I don't think it's a happily ever after moment lol eventually they probably did go their separate ways and grow away from each other
ppl who don't get anything from Licorice Pizza would probably drive themselves insane watching Inherent Vice...that whole movie is like the one scene with the wacky casting lady in LP
Any idea when this will be on streaming
just looked it up and apparently there are no plans for streaming at this time so my guess is eventually but not right away like some of these other new releases unfortunately...dvd and blu ray should be dropping sooner I'd think since you can pre-order on amazon already
So in the bathroom scene when Alana was chatting with Frisbee did she imply that Gary is always asking for handjobs and she's going pass the torch of getting harassed for handjobs to Alana or she's going to pass the torch of giving hand jobs to Alana
the fact that her name is Frisbee tells me she might be a loose chick that gives handjobs to whoever
Friends and I were arguing about it afterwards

I mean I think the main point of the scene was Alana getting jealous...she thought of Gary as just some dopey kid who was crushing on her and that was prly one of the first times she really looked at him as someone capable of being a bit of a player and had her second guessing whether he was authentically into her or just running game...that's why she's giving him that "didn't think you had it in you but hey impressive" look when they're in the car afterwards lol but yeah Frisbee was basically assuming they were a sexual item and that Gary was having her do the same s*** so was like "hey that's your job now" lol

definitely the second one lmao what would’ve been the point of making a distinction either way tho?

To discern whether Gary was or was not the recipient of handjobs. Huge bearing on the narrative.
