Okay, it’s been a week. I’ve listened to the album maybe 5-6 times so far and I’ve listened to just about every song at least 15-20 times.

I think the album is great. It’s some of Drake’s best work and because the execution on the songs is so strong, I think it’ll age very well. However, the album could be better if some changes were made to the tracklist. I’m gonna offer my opinion on those changes and you guys let me know what you think.

#1 - Remove In The Bible
It’s a good song overall but Drake didn’t perform the best on it. Lil Durk sounded great on his verse but for whatever reason he just stops towards the end of it. That kills the song for me and it just drags on after that.

#2 - Remove Travis Scott’s verse on Fair Trade
His verse didn’t fit the tone of the song and it’s largely forgettable. In my opinion, Travis isn’t a good feature artist and the song makes more sense thematically without him on it.

#3 - Remove Thug’s verse on Way 2 Sexy
It wasn’t good and it drags out the song. Drake & Future’s chemistry was perfect without him. He would’ve been better just ad-libbing for them.

#4 - Remove Fountains and move F*cking Fans in it’s place
Tems did a great job. It’s a good song. But it should’ve been a single for Tems’ album or just a standalone track. It does not fit sonically with the album at all. F*cking Fans makes more sense after Race My Mind and going into Get Along Better because of it’s subject matter fitting with the two songs mentioned. It doesn’t make sense before The Remorse because one second he’s singing about a past relationship and then all of a sudden he’s doing the outro. It’s weird.

#5 - Remove You Only Live Twice
Again, it’s a good song. Great rapping from all 3 of them. But it does not fit with the album sonically and just unnecessarily changes the pace of the R&B vibe down the stretch.

Now with these changes the albums flows perfectly and thematically. Especially with having IMY2 going into The Remorse. IMY2 has a triumphant feel to it while The Remorse has a reflecting feel to it. All the songs compliment each other and the pace changes make more sense.

Now you got a 10/10 album.

I'd actually maybe add Laugh Now Cry Later and swap Girls want Girls with Wants & Needs

Both are better features from Durk and Baby and would fit well on the album

Mostly agree with everything (liked Travis' verse) except #5. I think it's too good of a song to leave off. I would have instead put LNCL on the album and had LNCL and YOLT be the last 2 songs before The Remorse. This way, it'd feel like a real victory-lap stretch before the outro with 2 anthems.

I was actually discussing with a friend about what my ideal Certified Lover Boy Album would be so I'll just edit that and copy and paste it here.

Perfecting CLB for me would require some large changes to the tracklist but not only that I would have liked it to have an actual consistent running theme. Basically a concept album of what it means to him to be a "Lover Boy", how it is deeper than the more well known definition of it. How it's less about just being a ladies man and more about always caring about the love he receives and the love he gives and how they come in many forms.

I'm going to list out changes I would make to individual tracks but one change that would occur throughout every track are skits, lines, and verses that add to the concept.

...and of course would actually have a good album cover art.

1. Champagne Poetry

• More energetic last verse.
• Second part beat build up actually leads to an extravagant ending instead of just never reaching a climax like in original.

2. Papi's Home

• Add a second verse.
• Add a Nicki verse after the voice note interlude. Only if it's one of her bests of course.

3. Say When / Windy City Kisses

• This is the combination of When to Say When and Chicago Freestyle. I think they are better together like how it is in the music video except it's the whole songs instead of just half of them.
• Also shortening the name to just Say When and changing Chicago Freestyle into Windy City Kisses, better name for it imo.
• Should have kept these for CLB instead of putting it on DLDT.

4. Not Around

• Keeping the name Not Around f*** TSU.
• Long intro is shortened to just "Yeah, we back" and then the song starts.
  -Has a beat switch but is better than the one on TSU. Didn't hate it but wasn't really good to me.
• Can add the rest of the intro to the outro.

5. Owl Branded

• Add Lucky Lefty but I like Owl Branded better.
• Adding the Hov feature to this. This the type of song he should have been on.
• Imagine when he says "...shout goes out to Hov 'cause it's him and then me" and then the GOAT starts rapping!!!
• Drake would need to improve his verse. It's obviously great the way it is but Hov would murder this beat so he needs to turn super saiyan on it too.

6. B.B. King Freestyle

• Yeah I wish he kept this for CLB. Great track showcasing his lyricism.
• Owl Branded (Lucky Lefty) flows perfectly into it.

7. Lovesick

• This is Body to Body and Zodiac Sign combined together. Someone did this and I can't remember who but they are a genius because they sound really well together.
• I think the subject matter of the song adds to the theme of "Certified Lover Boy".
• Jessie killed her verse so there is nothing to change about but I would change Drake's singing and rap verse into something more energetic because he was sounding a little too monotonous on them.
• Also add some more depth to the beats. Try to bring them more alive.

8. Vital

• Of course have to add one of the best songs he has ever made that for some reason never got released.
• Song is pure perfection. Wouldn't really change anything about it except that there is a extender version of it with a short couple of lines. It should be a whole beat switch / second part to the song because it sounded amazing as well.

9. Deep Pockets

• Another DLTD song that deserves to be on CLB.
• Some of his best rapping. This and Chicago Freestyle really reminds you of Take Care Drizzy.
• Also adding Benny the Butcher to the song. Structure of the would be:

Benny Verse -> Drake Verse -> Hook (Drake does first part, Benny does repeated second part) -> Benny Verse -> Drake Verse -> Hook

• Song would be riddled by great adlibs from the both of them as well.
• Maybe have some type of sample intro from the Goodfellas or something as well.

10. Lotta 42

• Like I said before Hov feature is now on an appropriate song.
• Replace it with a second verse that connects the first verse and the outro verse better.
• Keep that beautiful outro and extended it more because there wasn't enough "you slide through and get your back broke" lines. Needed that to ride out longer.

11. Show My Love For You (feat. YEBBA)

• Yebb's Heartbreak renamed to Show My Love For You.
• It isn't just an interlude. I hate when he has whole songs on his projects that don't contain him at all. I still can't believe he ain't rap with Kendrick on Buried Alive or sung with Party on Wednesday Night.
• Yebba's part is the intro leading into Drake spitting two very emotional and introspective verses (like a From Time and Chicago Freestyle on steriods) detailing his views on the concept of love and how his view of it has changed/evolved over the years.
• Yebba would be hauntingly singing over the verses in the background and have an outro to the song too.

12. Lemon Pepper Freestyle

• Don't need Ross on this.
• Definitely should have been saved for the album.

13. No Friends In The Industry

• Should have an interesting beat breakdown outro with a couple more raps.

14. Knife Talk

• Drake needs more presence on this because it's one of many songs on CLB that sounds like he is just a feature.
• He should have gone first and should have contributed something to the hook.

15. 7AM on Bridle Path

• Beat needs more added to it but that's how I feel about all of Cardo's beats...
• Other than that I wouldn't change anything.

16. Race My Mind

• Perfect the way it is tbh.

17. Intense Emotions

• Shorten Fountains and Mention Me and combine them together into one amazing o*****ic Afrobeats song.

18. Get Along Better

• Ty should have had a verse in the middle of both of Drake's.

19. Finding Myself

• Would change name to Finding Myself or anything else really. I usually defend Drake about s*** like this but come on you 34 with a song titled IMY2... nah fam.
• Drake's verse should have been longer. He was really flowing and then it just stopped way too soon imo.

20. The Remorse

• I would have added Drake singing the outro along with the sample like he does on Papi's Home.
