Never played a Persona game. What's the hype behind 4 & 5?

How does the series stack up against like Final Fantasy, Tales & Dragon Quest?

about 2 hours in for the first time

Feels good so far. I like the feeling of the game

People are begging for a lot of these ports to come to PC/Switch including myself. Especially original SMT posts.

Nocturne on PC/Switch would be an instant hit

3ds games would def be a challenge but I would buy every single one especially the devil survivor games

Depends on what your tastes are, it's not as grand or high-stakes but it tells a much more grounded and personal story imo.

I could totally understand someone saying they prefer either story to the other.

One thing that's certain is that it's a classic JRPG and I can't recommend it enough to someone who enjoyed P5 as a total package

I played a bit of P4, And did one or two dungeons and thought the story was pretty predictable and basic. Did i drop it to quickly? I loved P5.

Great characters, story, style, deep and rewarding gameplay with a decent amount of challenge, half dungeon crawler half social sim. Also the music is totally amazing in these games They're some of my favorite OSTs of all time. Persona isn't as traditional as a DQ or FF, but totally worth looking into. I recommend Royal as a starting point, but if the price is too much you should go for Golden. You'll be getting lots of content for your dollar either way

One dungeon is a drop in the bucket for a Persona game, there's a lot more to see. I think you should give it another shot, especially if you liked 5.

@op’s explanation of Persona is pretty solid. If ur interested with something more in line with other JRPG’s I suggest some of the SMT, Persona’s sister series. It does differ in some substantial ways such as the press turn system (exploiting weakness to gain an extra turn), a great importance on buffs, and negotiating with demons to join your party.

Make sure you look up a guide on how to get the best ending. You will definitely need one.

I did get the bad ending i was like wtf then i googled and found out the multiple endings and got the true ending. Finally finished the epilogue too great game.

Kanji by far the best char, P4 was funnier than P5 tbh mainly cause of him

Definitely harder. On my first playthrough too, there are some QoL things P5 added that are huge differences in battle
