The writing was extremely repetitive but the actual gameplay (life sim and dungeons) and major story beats were good.
tbh I felt the opposite lmao
loved the characters and the life sim part of it but felt the palaces dragged out a bit too much and the combat became repetitive after like the 3rd one
I haven’t finished my second playthru but the palaces part is what I hate grinding through
They made palaces so grindy and damage so frequent so as to deter the one day meta. I guess it’s part the smt formula part them wanting you to enjoy the sprawling level design
like witcher 3, runescape, fallout etcits a mediocre game with very bad gameplay/combat but they have extensive dating and socializing features and thats the only reason games like these have such a big following
The combat in Persona 5 it's great

compared to more traditional jrpgs its boring, constantly fishing for an all out attack instead of actual planning out a team with a viable strategy

Why don't do both , that's like saying that pokemon battle system it's trash because you can spam quake and win

you think pokemons combat is good? its made for kids, of course its gonna be simple

It's a great turn based system for PvP. You have to select 6 mons of 40/60 viable ones per tier, in each mon 4 moves of the 20/30 useful moves they learn and one of the 2/3 habilities they have. There are hundreds of different moves each one with a specific function. In each turn, you have 9 options(one of the 4 moves or switching to another mon), but because you are playing against other people there reds enter at play, which gives more depth to the game.I could explain a lot more if needed all the depth that pokemon really has. A good combat system can be simple

simple turn based combat can definitely be good, dragon quest is a great example of this
but theres also simple as in nearly every thing you do is viable which is understandable since pokemon is made with kids in mind
but it definitely cant compare to games like ff and chrono triger when you look at battling alone
I disliked the cast of persona 5 for lacking character and a personality when not with Joker. Their lives revolve around him, as oppose to persona 3 and 4 where it feels they had something bringing them together.
That and the music sucked as it all feels like one giant jam session and very little difference in instruments or arrangements.
How a game like catherine managed to succeed as a tech demo for persona 5 and beat the actual product is beyond me
