we need to just KEEP his QB coach and coordinator stagnant. they say it a ton, but it seemed like he really benefitted from the stability of steichen as OC and BJ as QB coach for two consecutive years... but, im also calling for the entire staff to be fired, AND, cant say i love the idea that a 55 million dollar man needs to lean on coaches that much. but its always about putting your talent in the best position to win, and that's what that is.
some thoughts on this team and nick
1) It feels as if the defensive locker room was lost when nick made the change at coordinator. desai sucked but you can’t really pull that move mid season. guys on defense aren’t the most talented but they completely played down to comp and made mistakes that were either because they gave up, or the coaching in practice was dog s***. little miscues like running into each other, dropping easy INTs, missing tackles. all those little miscues add up and usually indicate s*** coaching and s*** practice. not all of these guys are bums right? if they were on other organizations they would step up in the moment and make plays. not saying these guys on the defensive end are flawless, just saying it’s clear they’ve been coached down.
2) James Bradberry under mo circumstance should still be getting burn. he’s horrid out there and the fact he wasn’t cut, regardless of the cap hit, is madness.
3) Offense needs to figure it the f*** out quite honestly. playcalling was so unimaginative Nicks entire tenure. Steichen made it work somehow, but let’s not act like even in his years we kinda cringed a bit at times with his playcalling too. the playbook just stinks. and it’s nicks. it’s so predictable,
it’s like nick for some reason wanted to prove to the world Jalen has an arm and isn’t just a rusher. that’s how it felt with all the fades and deep shots. He continues to go away from the run game, whether it’s working or not it’s just a no no. offense comes predictable every game when they ditch the run and swift gets dejected. ineligible receiver down field is just yet another sign of the bad coaching. only ever seen it called as often and much as it does against the Sirianni eagles. lastly, i know our offensive line is GOOD, and maybe i need to watch tape on it but fact of matter is it’s aging, and it ain’t the greatest no more. i dare say it steadily got worse as the season went on. more penalties, more pressure given up. could be in part teams blitzing more, but the teams gotta pick up a blitz sometime. this part concerns me though, cause it felt like their was a decline in their play the entire season quite honestly. maybe i’m wrong and gotta go grind the tape, but only one of those f***ers was an all pro so.. i’m not sure they’re the world beaters they once were.
yea man nick’s gotta go. too many good coaches out there. he very clearly treated the chiefs game like the super bowl, and it would appear he treated that stretch of games like it, because the team just totally gave up after they won some games some people maybe didn’t think they would
1. The defense was already ass before the switch, which is why that move was made to begin with. Defense was lost all year.
2. Bradberry lost us the Super Bowl and the season. Ass.
3. When the team started careening down, Sirianni couldn't do anything to stop or slow it down. Really betrayed his image from last year.
Whole coaching staff gotta go. I like Sirianni but you can't let a team burn like this and keep going. And it's past the point where we can just blame the coordinators and keep it pushin.
Out of our unrestricted free agents who do we need to re-sign and who do we need to let walk:
LB Shaun Bradley
DT Fletcher Cox
LB Zach Cunningham
G Jack Driscoll
S Justin Evans
DE Brandon Graham
WR Julio Jones
C Jason Kelce
LB Shaquille Leonard
P Braden Mann
QB Marcus Mariota
LB Nicholas Morrow
TE Albert Okwuegbunam
G Iosua Opeta
RB Rashaad Penny
RB Boston Scott
RB D'Andre Swift
WR Quez Watkins
WR Olamide Zaccheaus
Swift is the only sure thing on that list imo, BG for cheap, probably Mann, possibly Opeta and Driscoll for depth.
Is hurts the guy?
Yes but he showed his youth in last night's game. First time I realized he was still only 25 years old. A kid asked to be a leader. 25 is young in any field
Kinda figured it was his last year
Thanks for the memories Kelce
Kelce was getting pushed back too. Love him but him and Johnson got love this year based on their careers. I can't say either of them were really going crazy like they were last year. Let's wrap up the old guard. Much respect to what they've done with the city, but we really needed to win last year. It's incredible how much different this team is from last year.

the defense was 100% ass before the switch in most metrics, BUT they got stops when they needed to in the big games against GOOD teams. they havent been able to stop some of the worst QBs in the league this closing stretch of the season. Tackling also got significantly worse as the season went on i feel, but maybe im imagining things.
I don't think there are that many good coaching candidates out there, but you want to salvage as much as you can with the core of this group before that starts to change up.

tito i am soooo in line with your old guard takes. its plagued this team ever since winning the super bowl. i get wanting to have loyalty to your guys, feels like this FO extends that hand a bit too much though. not saying all the old guard guys suck, i just think the money they've been giving can be used wiser.

You're right but they didn't get sacks all year, turnovers became scarce, and the DB's were iffy except Slay. That was the story all year. We didn't do anything that made us great or effective last year
those comments about "good thing we are playing on the road" before this game, are pissing me offfff so much this morning. b**** ass comments.

I get that Slay is the upbeat, funny guy tryna make jokes and s*** but nobody tryna hear jokes at this time my nigga

he's really gotten on my nerve this season quite frankly. he's prolly our best secondary player but man. i f***ing hate both the extensions we gave our CBs, ESPECIALLY when this is the outcome.
also... Barnett having a career rejuvenating tenure on houston. kill me man!!!!!!!
Next year will probably be Slay last year with us
in all the hours watching other teams on league pass and red zone the last three years im not sure ive seen ineligible man down field called more than like 3 times truly. this team has committed that penalty such an insane amount it really makes you wonder what the f*** these guys go over in practice. felt like they just completely stopped watching film because there never even was an attempt to gameplan against the opposing defenses and their tendencies.

It is what it is. He was never gonna be the guy here with all the talent we have at edge. A change in scenery under a defensive head coach is what he needed. Doesn’t hurt that he’s got Will Anderson on the other side as well

Yet another thing pointing to coaching, especially since Sweat and Reddick slowed down as the year went on. Not all this is a coincidence folks

For a coaching staff that prides itself on "focusing on the details and fundamentals" they had these niggas getting called for the same s*** at an insane rate for 3 straight years

Hope he gets better at being a leader. He’s even keeled but I feel like he has to show a little more fire to inspire some of the guys.
He’s be great in corporate but these dudes are going to war, you gotta to have some emotion. It’s not always the suns up tomorrow, careers and windows are small and easily gone.
Something about Schefter being the one to report this and not hearing it straight from Kelce’s mouth doesn’t sit right with me though. Adam should have let Jason have his moment
I think switching defensive coordinators in the middle of the seasons was an ass decision for sure. At first I felt like the team unnecessarily gave into what the media and fans were saying. But I think in reality, it made our players feel like the team didn't believe in them. The Eagles were a strong team all year, even in their losses. But after a while we were just nothing.
I do think our defense is ass and was looking like a huge liability especially for the playoffs. The team might have panicked when the Bradberry shenanigans came to.
But the Eagles have consistently had a culture of bad defensive back play since Jim Johnson's passing in '08. We have always had either an unstable defensive back unit, or supposedly one of the worst DB's in the league on the team at some point. Even if we see that those players are great elsewhere or have career rejuvenations as soon as they leave. So let's not forget that the core of that issue has proven itself to be above the coaching staff. We don't have a front that office that knows what to do to develop DB's. We always field 1 great DB and then the rest is a liability that our offense has to survive until the defense gives out. Which they tried to do in the Foles Super Bowl. You know, so... that's a Lurie, Roseman type thing.
We've gotta move forward man. We're way too far past 2022 to still be saying we should've won the Super Bowl last year. We can't afford to do it. We got a young offense, we have young and eager rookies and D-linemen.... Those the new leaders. It gotta be a Jalen Hurts, Jalen Carter team. So build around those guys. Kelce and them boys are over with. They won the ring but they not winning no more. It's all good. But we got gas with our quarterback, offense, and standard of excellence so we gotta move while we have a chance to strike with our offense.
Slay is good, Swift is good, Hurts is good, Davonta and Brown.
The young guys gotta lead the team, man. Hasson gotta lead the defense, and Slay gotta get his boys together. Maybe it's cus he was hurt but he wasn't as rambunctious as he was last year either and that's one thing that really set it off for us.
