Feel like there's always been both, people who make a cohesive album and people who just try to have number ones here and there and then bloat the rest to have a long enough project.
It’s obvious that we’re deep in the playlist era of albums. But there are still some that are cohesive
Album experiences these days are a dying breed when rappers are incentivized nowadays to just throw s*** at the wall by padding an album with 20+ songs and pray that something sticks
I remember when mr morale dropped and some guy said ‘I’ll save a few songs off this and go back to listening to my dumb nggah music’
I knew then that the way people listen to music had changed drastically
He’s spot on here tbh Blue Lips was the last album I remember having that feeling as well.
GNX was pretty cohesive as well but Blue Lips was an Album Album
MIKE Burning Desire is one of those for me as well as far as the last few years goes.

I wish Blue Lips dropped after the pop out when all that attention was on TDE
Love siifu but tbh in 2024 I don’t think that’s true. Maybe in 2023, but just 2 months in the year most major albums have been good experiences. 2022 had a lot of it too. There’s both.
Blue lips, almighty so 2, Saheem, hurry up tomorrow, eusexua, REVELATOR, diabetic test strips, hurry up tommorow, silence is loud, showbiz!, in waves, CHROMAKOPIA, 2093 like I think we’ve had quite a few
I hope he keeps thinking this tho so he can keep providing amazing s*** like black antique.
