i saw this tweet today that i agree with about magazines
i feel like the creative director types are gonna start buying em and prioritizing em, theyre just so much less durable than things like a***og synths or cameras

this was funny though
niggas consolidating
Company I work at did something similar. CEOs finally came to their senses and realized they firing a few middle managers and lower execs saves them just as much money as laying off hundreds or thousands of employees so this is the move now.

Ur right actually they might bE good especially if they cater to these pop fans. My prediction is conde nast is gonna buy those twitter pop stan media accounts and legitimize them

Im throwing a party
holy s*** they laid off some of the big names aka Ryan Dombal, Jill Mapes, Puja Patel, etc
ppl cheering on layoffs here are sadistic... yes p4k is annoying with poptimism wokeness s*** but they've been invaluable in changing the conversation about music. so many artists i wouldve never listened to without them. very bleak
p4k has been on a decline for a long time now but still sad to see it lurch closer to death. i think we need more not less critical voices in the music industry now
On layoffs etc...it's more of a reflection of the culture under conde naste than anything else. Weird cause I read they made a big breakthrough last year in unionizing a lot of their writers/editors.
long time Frank Ocean writer (NU/CO/Blonde/Endless) Ryan Dombal among the writers fired, was actually interested in what he had to say on his next one.
I think a lot of these guys will get poached by other outlets but it's bleak

Yeah I feel the same.
Even if the quality of the content itself went down in the past years, I still visited the site daily just cause it introduced so many fantastic artists to me, especially in the early 2010s.
Sad, but it was inevitable.

& the response to unionization is 'downsizing' as we've seen across the board with MailChimp, Bandcamp, etc
