such a gigantic reach, almost makes me wanna review music to instill some integrity into the damn thing but ehh..
Her album was great though. Not better than Renaissance, but great in its own right. I don’t think she should be dragged into this thread.
The only "drag" was me saying it's whispery. That's just a personal take, and even then I think that is a pretty fair and true take in general it's based on how she sings/sounds on tracks. Her album is fine. It is not better than Renaissance. It is what it is there. I'm sure there are people who like it. I'm sure there are people who like it more than Renaissance. But the majority of people are likely going to say they like Renaissance more and that it is better.
I dunno why. She’s talented. Her album was one of the best debut albums released in recent years too. I won’t let her go down in this thread. Lol.
It isn't really a stray. It's a mention.

No I agree. It isn’t better than Renaissance, but I just don’t want Ravyn to be a target in this thread. If you feel what I’m saying.

No I don't because it's not that deep. Just a random artist mention.

It came off as a diss. But whatever..it ain’t deep at all.
Atleast you enjoy Renaissance.
They always gotta make it something it’s not man.
Instead of just enjoying and a***yzing great musicianship and great songs it always has to be angled into some politically charged intellectual thesis statement.
She made 16 amazing songs for the club with lyrics like “drop it like a thotty drop it like a thotty” and somehow they interpreted the album as a “conduit for radical Black anger”
holy f***, is this really in the review? lol
Wait it's not lmao somebody made a satire of it thought it was actually from there had to snopes myself

Ah ok, I was about to say lol. I refuse to click on a Pitchfork review in 2022.

Wasn't hard for me to believe after reading this part tho
in the 2018 book Fabulous: The Rise of the Beautiful Eccentric, professor and musician Madison Moore captures the innovation of certain queer aesthetics: “The fact that beautiful eccentrics put themselves on the line every day despite the odds shows how important they are not only as aesthetic geniuses but political activists too.” Beyoncé, of course, has a gigantic bank account and a team of people to help her look extravagant—“It should cost a billion to look that good/But she make it look easy ’cause she got it,” as she vamps on “Pure/Honey”—and to make the kind of fantasy she’s crafted on Renaissance plausible, from the Swarovski-encrusted imagery to the refinement of the album’s song choices. But using her global proscenium to showcase the work of marginalized people, as the political and legal scapegoating of their existences ramps up to a terrifying degree—including draconian legislation in her home state of Texas—is important, even a rejoinder to 2014’s big FEMINIST sign moment, a subtle kiss-off to people who’ve made vilifying trans women a cornerstone of their feminism by making space for all sorts of femme expression.
nah, the album is actually kind of one-note and stale,
should’ve had more variety or should’ve been a bit more bold and daring
Break my soul was great, more of that and less generic beyonce with interchangeable instrumentals
