No it’s not something I would’ve used as a criticism of Utopia
That's my point
And to be clear, you can give Utopia a 0/10 and say it is an absolute stain on the legacy of hip hop music, but it's gonna need to be a valid critique beyond an arbitrary dedication to regionalism in a post-Internet musical landscape. NY hip hop sounding like Chicago, London, and Atlanta right now
Holy f*** you're still in here?

It's not posting instead of working if you have no work to do #latestagecapitalism
RYM is actually being kinder to Utopia than KTT is
Which says a lot about who is actually enjoying this album but anyway
This site suffering from it too. Seen someone say Utopia a generational classic on the level of TPAB and MBDTF in the Utopia thread
@op @simulacrum this is what ive been saying
niggas can’t just say an album is cool, it’s gotta be an era defining project
I only really use rateyourmusic these days to see the reception of new albums in real time.
Rather that than all of these known publications with ulterior motives.
It's the best place to discover new music imo.
yeah RYM is a goated catalog, everything else in between the community and the ratings is enough to drive someone to suicide lmao

It's not TPAB or MBDTF level lmao
But it's fire
I also have a weird way of assessing "classic" music in that I think even within the "classic" category, their are tiers in terms of quality and impact
But Utopia is fire. Sometimes you just want that fire. But no it's nowhere near TPAB or MBDTF and I'd frankly even put Rodeo considerably ahead of it
Also wanna say I never even insinuated that it was TPAB or MBDTF level and always said it was Trav's second best album behind Rodeo
I admittedly like Rodeo a lot more than most people but I'm well-aware of its shortcomings. That said, I will die on the hill saying it's one of the best produced hip hop albums ever made.

I wonder if we’re aging out or something n talking to 14 y.o.s
Like AC/DC and Pink Floyd both have classics but clearly Floyd has the better classics lmao
i haven’t even checked on there in a grip but last time i looked these niggas had TA13OO as the greatest trap album ever on their ratings

I dont know what bugs me the most: Fantano or Pitchfork
Fantano is awesome and has way better taste than any idiot employed at pitchfork. He’s put me on to so many obscure rock and electronic acts. Even rappers I hadn’t heard of

Just checked and at the moment its rodeo with taboo right behind it

I'm still taking RYM over Pitchfork in terms of trap reviews

Yep I'm perfectly fine with him giving MBDTF a 6/10 because it was a well constructed critique
P4K's 10/10 for MBDTF is way worse than TND's 6/10
I don't truly keep up with music criticism like crazy or anything but TND funny as hell and is very articulate. Disagree with him pretty sharply on a good amt of stuff but it's not like he's a hack or anything

LMMAAOOO you've been on Alphonse Pierre's head for 5 hours now just to end up writing that first sentence ?
Shame really is a strange notion for some of y'all

I think it’s still a valid criticism because it’s true. It’s just not something I expect from Travis so I’m not going to hold it against him. But if someone else considers it detracting from their enjoyment of the album then fair play
