im just confused as to who really wants this s*** tbh. does anyone really think its more interesting to read yet another summary of the problematic things Kanye did in the past instead of actually discussing the album
if the point is just to get more clicks by writing a "negative" review (6.0 isnt even that bad), why don't they just stir up more attention by actually just ripping the contents of the album apart, even if it's agenda-driven
Yeah I want to see them talk about the album’s lyrics line by line and dive into the intricacies of the production or at least just EXPLAIN YOUR OPINION BRO
I’m going to write a dissertation on the state of music reviews. 8th grade honors finally coming in handy
Nah they still very much orange man bad and Kanye 2020 , abortion comments
think ye understood this so he doubled down even harder. it actually worked and gave them more to whine about outside of the music per usual

The fact is you aren’t realizing someone who hates Kanye is looking for a low score and if they see it they read it to justify their hate if it wasn’t a low score they say “ y’all do anything for this nigga” it’s confirmation bias on both sides yall do it too
"Apart from the title track missing its somber verse from G.O.O.D. Music President Pusha-T, Donda herself is missing from a good chunk of this album. The first two iterations of Donda featured more vocal clips of Kanye’s mother, a guiding light and platonic ideal for he and his guests to strive for. (The grounding advice found on the cut track “Never Abandon Your Family” is a felt void on this final version). Though she makes a few appearances, her truncated presence here robs the album of its initial tribute to confiding in maternal love and wisdom."
i agree with this

i know exactly why theyre giving it a low score/what those people you mentioned are looking for but I think they should give it a low score while primarily criticizing the music

Exactly . Many thought “ oh he gonna talk or beg media for forgiveness or say “ psychotic episode “ or remarket he said no f*** that . Most of the time with interviews his rollouts start with controversy. This time me ended it with controversy and his point . Got saw people cheering that he was going to lose his family and saying “ he free of kardashian Kurse” and they don’t even know him . He had people laughing at his mental breakdown last year on Twitter saying he deserved it . This was his f*** you

It’s hard to be that vulnerable especially with clips of your mom and know people gonna trash your dead mom . There was people saying f*** Kanye and his mom ( not niche accounts ) like verifiers
y’all doing wayyyy too much for searching that dudes Twitter
maybe just stop desperately thirsting for someone to validate your opinion and getting mad if they dont
if you like this album then enjoy it
You don’t need pitchfork to tell you you’re right for liking it

i would have thought the target audience would be less interested to read a recap of s*** they already know about and hate kanye for. maybe i just misinterpreting the wants of their target audience though tbh, its clear theyre obviously not intending to be a "music nerd" site
talking about about lyrics is fine by me ofc

To be fair he still tweeting about Kanye and he likes and retweets are basically “ I hate Kanye “ . They aren’t making it about his looks or anything but his bias . The review don’t matter but shouldn’t be a hit piece

You are misinterpreting their target woke audience
Obama drone striking kids okay. Kanye standing next to people bad . Obama friends with Bush good . Kanye making art bad
What happened to the Pitchfork staff that was there in 2013? That was the last time I took their reviews seriously, I don't know these names now. Is it common in media to have such a different staff over a period of 10 years?
Conde Nast bought Pitchfork in 2015
thank u god for this slow ass internet so the article wouldnt load
had enough time to realize i didnt wanna read mental r**tardation on full display

obviously there's a point where people get offended at critics' differing opinions and take it too seriously, but i don't like the angle that discussing music journalism about a specific topic and disliking their direction/approach to it means you're just trying to validate your opinion. there's a difference between criticizing music journalists because you disagree with their taste/opinion and criticizing them because you think they are doing poor journalism

oh yea i agree
I think it’s a pretty bland review that spends minimal time on the music - how can you review this album and not even mention Jail that’s insane to me
But a lot of people in this section have been sitting round anticipating critic responses to this getting ready to either call the review trash if it’s not their opinion or great if it is and people searching up the reviewers and targeting them specifically is extremely weird unhealthy behavior
