Decent album but his worst by far .Kendrick needs to go back to making concept albums. Cool little album coming off a rap beef tho,I guess.
Pitchfork in big 2024?
The review is full of backhanded compliments. He clearly doesn’t like Kendrick and is annoyed he won the beef. They definitely should have had someone else review the album who isn’t biased.
he hates drake way more
Oh now Kendrick fans get that a review could be based on the artists and not the actual music?

Tbh, it's not the same reviewer
But this guy - alphonse pierre, apparently gave Honestly Nevermind the same score (which is crazy to me bc ts was not good).
It’d be one thing to say you don’t like the album, but why say s*** that don’t make sense?
Reincarnated “more technically impressive than substantively” and made out of reaction to Taylor Made, whole time mf talking about his actual real past life regression experience he had around Mr. Morale using the best pac-esque flow I ever heard next to 03 em
The west coast sound of the album “doesn’t sound genuine” ??? explain what genuine is my dawg. I could hear g perico all over this album
and then the same Savior Complex nonsense that nobody can actually explain what the f*** they mean by it. alphonse a FD Signifier ass music critic. Fake deep platitudes and s*** that don’t make any type of sense
Look, I get it. Not everyone is going to agree with my take, and that’s part of the job. When I review an album, I’m not writing to confirm your bias or cater to fandoms—I’m giving you my honest perspective, backed by years of listening to and studying music. That’s the gig.
Kendrick is undeniably one of the most important artists of our time, but not everything he drops is above critique. GNX is ambitious, no doubt, but ambition doesn’t automatically equal greatness. My review wasn’t about tearing him down; it was about engaging with the music critically. If that didn’t line up with your feelings about the album, cool—we’re allowed to disagree.
But let’s be real: the energy some of y’all bring to these threads makes it clear you don’t want reviews; you want validation. That’s not what I’m here for. Let the music speak for itself, and if you think I’m off the mark, fine—but at least try to engage with the points instead of coming with pitchforks. Respectfully.
