would score it higher myself and Al clearly not a particularly big kendrick fan (nothing wrong with that inherently) but again the review is pretty well reviewed, justified.
That's cool and he has every right to drop a post-beef victory lap sorta album, but it doesn't equate to an interesting release for me.
You have every right to enjoy it, as same as I have every right to think it's nothin special.
Peace
If you don’t think it’s special then I don’t think you really listened
Nigga shut up @op

It's not a good review because it's hardly even about the music lol it's mostly just projection, digs at Kendrick as an artist/person, and claims that Kendrick only leaned into the West Coast sound to spite Drake despite Kendrick making it extremely clear throughout his entire career the West Coast sound greatly influences him.
Unlistenable is “reincarnated,”
!https://youtu.be/ifaoKZfQpdA?si=HqozP0hnMlUUBYOlBest song on the album what an idiot. I think people just write the song off cuz they hear a 2pac impression, but Kendrick really put his all in that song and that voice and flow are amazing….plus the story/lyrics
Alphonse Pierre, noted Drake stan
The guy who said Euphoria has 'the worst beat you've ever heard'
Ain’t Alphonse the guy that glazes the s*** out of Xaviersobased…..yeah no get this guy out of here
Pitchfork got rid of their music festival we don't have to pay attention to them anymore
Is this actually Alphonse
Lol I think I've seen that guy with a different display name. I thought it was a clear troll at first but everybody seems to be believing it. I think it's a troll though.

I think everyone is just suspending belief for the sake of arguing. Alphonse is not the first guy to come up with the username “Cold”. This is so funny

Even if it’s not him he’ll still lurk this thread at some point

I wouldn’t mind his review if he just shared it on Twitter but writing for a big outlet like Pitchfork is another level. Pitchfork reviews hold weight (unfortunately) and can change opinions.
How could they not find someone more experienced for the job and go with an amateur instead? How they gonna let someone so unqualified put out a review like that?

Bad faith shake my damn head

I don't like most of his writing but he's not an amateur by any means, he's been a regular fixture on Pitchfork for years now
Look, I get it. Not everyone is going to agree with my take, and that’s part of the job. When I review an album, I’m not writing to confirm your bias or cater to fandoms—I’m giving you my honest perspective, backed by years of listening to and studying music. That’s the gig.
Kendrick is undeniably one of the most important artists of our time, but not everything he drops is above critique. GNX is ambitious, no doubt, but ambition doesn’t automatically equal greatness. My review wasn’t about tearing him down; it was about engaging with the music critically. If that didn’t line up with your feelings about the album, cool—we’re allowed to disagree.
But let’s be real: the energy some of y’all bring to these threads makes it clear you don’t want reviews; you want validation. That’s not what I’m here for. Let the music speak for itself, and if you think I’m off the mark, fine—but at least try to engage with the points instead of coming with pitchforks. Respectfully.
out of interest how do you land on a specific number for a review ?
what makes something a 6.6 and not a 6.7 ?
