I feel like that where people getting it wrong
Song can be criticized but ultimately it's not for members of the LGBT community or their advocates. It's for the people that ain't.
Kendrick never made it for Pitchfork or to win Ally of the year, it was just his truth
And ultimately Mary Ann is definitely the most important character in the story since she's the one checking him at the end
Well people can stop complaining about critics slurping him
Because one outlier? They still slurp him
And ultimately Mary Ann is definitely the most important character in the story since she's the one checking him at the end
"he makes himself the main character in his queer relatives’ stories "
what did they mean by this
This is probably the only reason it's not above an 8

I think they were more bugged by Kodak
Am I the only person that thinks this is actually a really well written review?
“Throughout Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Kendrick seems to actively reject the elegance and structure of past songs like “DUCKWORTH.” and “good kid,” writing in quick strokes and sketches that channel his messy admissions. Ideas scamper around like field rabbits and he avoids clean hooks, denying the listener easy access to his thoughts. It verges on antipop.”
I felt like this part summarised the album really well and what I disliked about it.
They doing that to be different because everybody else giving out 10s. Also cause Kodak is on the album
so what you’re saying is if anyone listens to the album and rates it anything lower than a 10 then they’re just doing it to be different??
are you actually that f***ing stupid?

That's funny it's exactly why I like it

I think they are sharing the same perspective that I had on the song.
I feel like its incredibly ironic to talk about how you used to be transphobic and then make a slur the chorus of the song.
Whilst I understand the point of the song and how he uses repetition of the slur to reinforce his point. For me, I just feel like the execution failed.
That is just my opinion though, but I hope it helps you understand their viewpoint.

Yeah I think its quite a divisive structure for an album.

Honestly. That site only hire contrarians.

what the f*** does ‘verging on antipop’ even mean
so many of these songs have a commercial sound. they’re making it sounds like kendrick is rapping over free jazz or noise or some s*** lmao.
It's literally a story about him growing up and accepting and loving these people in his life. Don't understand wtf they're trying to prove with that point
Pitchfork writers are LITERALLY dumb.
I think they were more bugged by Kodak
Anyways its been proven that Pitchfork doesn't just review the music. They like to bring other s*** into the music cause there's no way this album is less than an 8

"ideas scamper around like field rabbits" he really thought he had one with that metaphor
Knew this would happen, f***in leftards
The album was not socialist enough for their asses
"ideas scamper around like field rabbits" he really thought he had one with that metaphor
They be trying so hard to find to make their opinions sound valid lol
Yeah I think its quite a divisive structure for an album.
I do think the sequencing is strange and doesn't work in some places but the individual tracks are so good to me

Avoids clean hooks?
N95, Die Hard, Father Time, Rich Spirit, Purple Hearts, Count Me Out, Silent Hill, Savior, Mr Morale, Mother I Sober and Mirrors
All got clean hooks and outside Mr Morale, i would say they’re all catchy and fit in the song structure perfectly

Different critic with a different opinion on a different album
Post makes no sense lol
