Pixar's recent run has been FAR better than it gets credit for
Soul, Luca, and Turning Red are all phenomenal

if soul and luca came out in the 2000s they’d be hailed as modern classics

I liked Turning Red but there were some spots where the metaphor felt a little awkward
Like it’s made explicitly clear that the panda is a metaphor for puberty or whatever (probably should’ve kept it slightly more open to interpretation)
So when the character says “she’s flaunting the panda!” And she’s actually selling her “panda” for money essentially I’m unsure on what I’m supposed to feel or think. Loved the 2000s setting though and I know I’m overthinking it but the heavy handedness of the metaphor kind of forced my mind there

Give Luca a watch tbh. It's super underappreciated because Pixar didn't go for something epic or profound for that film
It's just a small story in Italy about acceptance and a bromance. The movie has a lot of heart and is pretty funny.

Have not seen Luca surprised it went under my radar. Movie sort of looks like OG dream works vibes
