I was planning on purchasing a dog but I found a place near me giving away dogs for free. This seems too good to be true. Is there a catch? Is it safer to just purchase a dog? Need help!

It's not uncommon at all to get free dogs from a shelter. Technically all the dogs at shelters are free but for most dogs you still have to pay a fee to cover vaccines and s*** like that

Usually this happens with terminally ill dogs, someone on here got a dog for cheap, it died and broke their heart

No kill shelters tend to give dogs and cats away for free I believe

yeah this how it was at the one i volunteered at, the dogs are free and that’s how they advertise it but you pay a little to cover the other stuff.
