Are you talking about S/t and DAMN. releasing on the same day? Not really comparable, Carti was a newer artist releasing his first tape and Kendrick was an established star. DaBaby and Carti releasing on the same day would be more competitive, even though I think Carti will sell more I'm sure Interscope would want to maximize each albums sales by having them release with no competition.
