I've just realised that Flatbed Freestyle is actually a F***ING masterpiece of a track.

I hate to be that guy that brags about music taste, but to provide context: I listen to s*** that spans from dissecting the reaches of perfection and mental breakthroughs by the likes of Kanye, the time signature prog rock changes of Dream Theatre, to the droning hypnotic mantras of Sunn O))) and even some f***ing Merzbow s***.

The genius behind Flatbed Freestyle, that I've noticed after listening to it hundreds of times, is that the vocals actually, and very subtly, become more slurred as the track progresses. It's because of this, and the lyrical theme progression, that I've actually realised how much of a genius Carti is.

He starts off with some authority with his brag about smoking gas, getting head and an AP on his left. However, the lyrical delivery actually starts becoming more darker, the speech becomes more slurred, and it quickly transitions from riding around on mopeds to relapsing on lean, killing and representing the South. This is whilst still maintaining the overall theme of the track.

But the second half of the track is presented in such a tone... it's as if Carti is that guy who got too gacked out at a party and started throwing gang signs and bragging about his lifestyle of lean, killing, b****es and repping the south while his friends struggle to get him to sit down. It's like he's saying in the second half of Flatbed Freestyle, in a leaned-out drunken slurred stupor (which he f***ing cleverly delivers in his intonation and delivery near the end), "fuck all of you, I'll f*** all the b****es, stay strapped, and sip as much lean as I want".

"Too much lean, one more pint" is akin to the active seeking of wanting to be more sedated and down despite the state he's in. It's like those times where you're wanting to take more Tequila shots or wanting to pop another molly despite being absolutely f***ed off your head. The fact that this is a "freestyle" (essentially free association stream of consciousness talk), it's like he's releasing his internal monologue while he's on lean and the brags become more darker as he "smokes that organic" and sips that lean
