If nobody tipped then restaurants would not survive, servers would no longer exist. It may be legally optional, but in reality, it is essential to survival for the industry.

This is like saying "getting a job is optional, nobody's forcing you to get one".

And I'm not arguing against that but it's still an option

But back to the original point, if a immigrant who makes less than an average server with tax but is tired of the eating the same food and wants to go out once but only has enough for the meal and tipping would stretch his wallets how is that reasons for condemnation

It is completely reasonable because you can do carry-out, go to fast food, or make food at home.

    All of those are

    1. Cheaper options for an immigrant who makes barely anything to survive

    2. Don't require directly refusing to compensate someone else also struggling for their job

    What's hard to understand?

Imagine ordering overpriced ass doordash/uber eats and being pressed about leaving a $4 tip

So they can’t eat inside the restaurant because they can’t tip? That’s messed up man

I just said they want to treat themselves to a meal from a restaurant once in a while

And for ur 2nd point ur making the assumptions that every waiter that works the job depends on that income from the job for survival which is not always the case, especially when a lot of waiters nowadays are college student that dont depend on it for survival but additional income

Dude policing tipping poor Uber Eats drivers who used their gas money, spent nearly an hour working to get food to them, and don't get majority of the fees Uber Eats charges. All because they made stops they were required to make by their job.

    What an a******

    It's not really free

The company could pay them more but they dont so the consumer passes on the additional cost

Okay, if you want to eat nice once in a blue moon... you can also leave a $3 tip once in a blue moon?? You're not going to have to continue to give the server money every single day after. What the f*** is your issue

It is 2020. People in general are working because they NEED to survive. College students also pay bills and require money to get by. You are insanely slow at this point.

Well if you ain't doing s*** the worker suffers. The worker has nothing to do with the bad practice. So help then out if you can afford it

Why would anyone NOT whine about being treated s***ty by the people they work for? And not getting paid by these people who know themselves severs livable wages depend on their pay?
