I think we just have to agree to disagree on that middle point, i’m not putting other peoples lack of comprehension of a very clear and valid point on Kendrick have to just repeat it again when he wasnt even the one who said anything. Our perception of his public persona is clearly different, cos to me is that he lives a very private life and he talks about his life and experiences through his music. And that experience is a flawed one, where he has admitted himself he isnt a consistent person. So i do (and have done in this whole convo) agreed with you that Kendrick isnt a consistent person. But i just dont agree he had to specifically justify that interview when his name was used for clickbait, and the reason is clear enough anyway

The only person he has attacked on a moral standpoint is Drake, and that was in the context of a beef. Drake could’ve used these narratives better, but unfortunately for him cos of the artist he is, him calling Kendrick out on a moral standpoint is even worse. Cos even for Kendricks self admitted flawed traits, he still attempts to tackle socio-political topics and awkward ones. Thats the key point here.

If he went up against a prime Mos Def or something, then these narrative’s would’ve stuck on Kendrick better. But Drake since the beginning of his rap career, has been obsessed with being the most popular rap artist of all time. You can find very early interviews of him saying he wants rap to get into pop and he wants to be the face of that. Which isnt a criticism, but when you compare that kind of subject matter he raps about to Kendrick, who raps about vulnerable and flawed socio-political and cultural experiences that he and his close ones have lived. That alone gives him more integrity, and it’s why people believe him more.

Kendrick getting painted with the preachy conscious rapper cos of TPAB always bothered me. Yeah he sometimes conforms to it, but that whole album is so self critical and is him having an identity crisis within the industry. u is one of the most vulnerable songs ever in the genre.

Edit: also this whole talk about integrity and Kendrick attacking people on a moral standpoint. Just remember who went to that moral integrity role first. Big clue: it was Family Matters
