Pressing play now, this first listen has been a long time coming

Just looking over the tracklist you can tell this is a more focused project, a sturdy 12 tracks compared to the largess of Late Night Sween, which had another EP’s worth of songs added on

Southern Fried (Intro) - equivalent to a layup, easy way to start things in the right direction ☝️ the double-tracked vocals are fire, beat is fire and I actually like the subdued percussion. I was anticipating a big break to come in at first but it stayed put - and was better for it imo. Excellent start

Pray/Prey - now Syrin Musiq has a very nice voice, big props to whoever mastered this because it sounds real slick, radio ready but clearly heartfelt too. Her parts are really standing out, and the beat is very GKMC-esque

Gretzky - now this is classic Sween 😎 perfect intersection of Max B and TI with that raw booty-wrecking lyricism.

Then Pokafa$e comes in with the Riding Spinnas flow, sheesh 😳 this is the one

Tip Top - one of the reasons you really gotta check this tape out is the way Sween and Pokafa$e get at that early-early Outkast sound when you could almost have mistaken Cee Lo as the third member, bars wise and beats too. This one reminds me of a late night take on Hootie Hoo

Neva Lose - this underwater sample has me thinking about what would happen if Drake dropped an owl emoji on this one 🤔

North Side Chick - consciously skipping this track because I heard it already, promise I’ll run it back for the streaming numbers. But next is

Good 4 My Soul - Yeah this s*** just rides, people don’t make weed songs anymore. Starts out very fun at the top, got my favorite line in the album so far, then gets mellow with the second verse which is cool, Syrin kills it again!! Loved how it faded out, best one so far imo

Northside Pride - 😤😤 talk that s***!! This beat is absolutely nuts, giving me Killa Season Cam vibes but its pure Cool Breeze type bars, slapper

Temptation - 😳 oh s*** this is that late late night Sween, my goodness. Sween is in his bag on this one, I keep waiting for Big Boi to come in with the guest verse about crocodile leather bathrobes and exotic boudoir furniture

Pokafa$e very charitably asks God to bless his side piece’s man because he’s trying as hard as he can to f*** as good as Pokafa$e does

Got Mines - this is some Black Moon s***, whew! Sween confuses his Venezuelan ting Diane for Thai, but don’t hold it against him. This s*** stupid, stupid fire

Music - of course you need a requisite ode to music itself, but Uncle Sween elevates it by artfully dropping names in his verse without seeming tied to a gimmick for it. Shoutout to Sween for still listening to Floetry and shoutout James for giving November Rain its props

A+, a career best
