What is stopping Bernie from running independent/telling his supporters to write him in even if he loses the Dem primary?

i mean he wouldn’t win with that strategy at all, but worst case this could possibly open that door for a future party or politician of the movement, tho

it’s just not the right time despite me fully intending on writing in bernie regardless at this point. i’m not going to be held accountable for putting a mans who’s mental capacities are clearly slipping into a seat of power, and 4 more years of trump could potentially facilitate a substantial progressive movement even more than 4 years biden (which wouldn’t happen unless corona pop off OD by then, so 🙄)
