Pop Smoke was supposed to be the new king of hip hop, being from the same place as Biggie and Jay-Z. So it’s only right. His beats were tense and ornery. His voice rattling and ferocious. His songs were a reminder of how New York hip-hop once sounded, and dominated. Pop had that energy that no other rapper had had since 50. He had the game on lock and was poised to being at the top of it all.

    RIP
