wouldnt be shocked if i got banned but if you niggas are this childish this aint the site for me anyways
So you want listeners to 1) support black people 2) stop listening to black artists that are subject to these conditions. Do you see the cognitive dissonance there? You are essentially critiquing the music that these circumstances birth. You think personal consumer habits are responsible for the material conditions fostering violent crime and gang activity. You are a very dumb individual preaching and being divisive in a thread about a tragedy you barely comprehend.
And now you're blocked. Peace.
Music, rap, currently, is anyone who isn't Black's easiest gateway to living vicariously through the culture, so, imo, if they're going to listen to it its going to be through music because they clearly don't give a f*** when its being spoken on outside of these realms. They hate feeling like their proximity to the culture is threatened when an actual Black person speaks up and say "now what the f*** was yall doing gassing up the violent s*** you fetishize on a daily basis"
I see your point and I kinda agree honestly. People nowadays are always just looking for the next hit, when things get dark they get emotional for a moment or ignore the issue entirely, then they start looking for the next fix. They don't wanna get involved with the problem

If you think consuming rap music has anything to do with actually helping Black people you are beyond braindead I can't with you f***ing zoomers
I have witnessed these tragedies with my own eyes first hand nigga I grew up in east side detroit. I see why you certain niggas can't understand cuz it don't even remotely hit as close to home as it do for yall

It is what it is I never thought this sort of talk would be considered closed minded but I guess I'm just from entirely different circumstances that can't be related to by the masses. Imagine telling a nigga who lived through the s*** he don't know wtf he's talking about
If you not Black, stop listening to music that promote the violence that these acts are rooted in if you aren't actively doing things that diminish it in the Black community or helping Black people. We got enough leeches. Peace
I’m.....not mad at this post 😳
I kinda agree w the overall point u makin especially since i aint grow up in a nice area either...seen a whole lot. and it kinda bothers me subconsciously seein ppl almost worship street rappers online but prolly cross tha street when they see black ppl IRL

I completely agree. I have had to deal with many problems of my own too, and I simply stopped talking to people about it, not because they don't care, but because they don't have the attention span to listen, or they don't wanna get too involved
@dirtgirlworld lets talk about this, its something ive been feeling conflicted about myself for a long time, the very first time i recorded a song it was about this exact topic - soundcloud.com/flowingchimp/remorseful-rythm
so to me there is no definite answer to this argument because at the end of the day it comes down to the consumers perception and how it is being taken in, case by case
obviously you cannot ignore raps impact on culture and lifestlye and if you are supporting music that magnifies deep rooted issues in a glorifying matter, you are part of the problem to an extent
but also these are real issues and simply the effects of many different f***ed up precautions the united states of america took to suppress a group of people and drive them towards living standards that will bring something like this out of folk
at the end of the day it is art. as an artist all you can do is be honest and true about yourself, obviously most trap rappers are traumatized, mentally drained and etc for them to feel like how they feel, for being homicidal, angry and empty of morals. they are simply expressing themselves, i think we can both agree that artists that are genuinely dealing with these thougths n feelings are not to blame for expressing themselves artistically, right?
now as for the consumer, i believe the line between consuming said art maturely and knowing where subject matter is coming from and ignorantly supporting it tuning out underlying issues is very fine.
as for myself, i love trap, imma be all the way honest with you too, i like when the subject matter is murder. but i like it in the same sense i like gore/slasher movies, same sense one would like death metal where they talk abt crazy s***. it is not about the idea that you support people indulging in these activities but that you have an avenue to throw the negativity and anger you have within yourself onto as you consume the music. art has no responsibility at all imo, its art. art provokes, emphasizes and or conceptualize feelings. a grown mature person i believe can listen to trap music and use it for internalizing negativity without actively being fond of actual murder, gang culture etc.
however, there is definitely a portion of fans that consume this sort of music almost like minstrel shows, i dont even wanna speak on that further.
then there is definitely generations of kids that are affected and influenced by this music as well, continuing cycles where it may had not been necessary. Even though obviously its never solely the music but the mixture of circumstances surrounding ones life, experiences and so on that can possibly lead to impressionable minds making decisions based on what they consume. But still, thats a real thing.
I believe censorship with this music is extremely important, extremely important to prevent young, impressionable minds to consume it "wrongly" meaning in a way where theyd ignore the issues behind it. sadly its impossible to do that in this day n age but i dont believe it should be as black and white as condemning every bit of trap music and its consumption of it.
those are my 2 cents on this very complicated topic
This street does not pay.
A lot of folks only view it as entertainment but people forget there are human beings behind those lyrics.
He’s a f***ing clown and goofy too. Don’t ever let any of your people get caught up in any of your business. I grew up in Baltimore and know for a fact that people’s families never got touched unless you did some real f***ed up s***.
The whole gang culture and crime culture for black folks in America gotta stop. S*** is poison.
Rip to his grandparents though. Damn

I see what you saying completely 100% bro.
The violence in rap music is fetishized by other races and when people point that out they get upset.
I grew up around violence and somehow people itt don’t understand this man had to of been doing some real f***ed up s*** for people to come for his family like this.
Sad that niggas get called coons or ostracized when they try to point out the violence issue in the black community. S*** needs to be discussed.
Still rip to his folks tho, s*** is f***ed
I'm glad there's insightful discourse going on in this thread, been reading
talking about this stuff can't be easy

The revolution begins and ends with socialism. Suggesting not consuming certain black music that most people digest solely for entertainment when this country is nowhere near moral and unselfish for that to even happen are all bullshit band-aid remedies.
Yeah this some Genghis khan level s*** bruh. No cap lmaooo

if you don't see why its an issue then get out your sensitive ass feelings and open your eyes to why there's a greater underlying problem with fetishizing this lifestyle
Same niggas talmbout RIP will be in the next pooh shiesty thread sayin its a banger when the song ain't about s*** but shooting niggas

You been making sound points the whole thread. Every one of these threads has a poster like yourself, and everybody jumps down their throat and condemns the poster so they can pretend to be shocked and continue dancing around the subject. They’ll say things like “now isn’t the time” but there’s never a time that they want to have a meaningful discussion about it. They’ll deflect and accuse you of attacking the rapper even though you never did. It boils down to people not wanting to change or take accountability because they’re too far removed from the negative culture theyre supporting to really care
