Forgot fear and loathing in las vegas and the safdie bros post-heaven knows what
Love all these influences but I’m hesitant to expect too much of it to come through in the music. 2nd half of Kiss Land (Song) is the musical embodiment of coked up Tony Montana during the final shoot out. Would not mind more of that vibe

Love this thread op, also this has the potential to be the best aesthetic he's done so far. Some of my favorite movies oat in this thread.
Agreed! This aesthetic fits him very well imo
It’s funny seeing two things that have had a profound impact on my life (mob movies and Weeknd) come together. The hipster d***gy style of his earlier music seemed in opposition to mafioso rap but ik he’s a big film nerd
The Fear & Loathing influence JUMPED out of this

Yeah this chapter is straight out influenced by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The teaser trailer for the music video of Heartless just dropped and it has the same feel as that movie. I'm hyped af for this album now
After the heartless video I can confidently say this is his best aesthetic by far.
Really hope he dropped heartless and blinding lights because they were the most accessible/mainstream sounding songs on the album. Heartless grew on me tho.
who told this dude about ktt2 smh
edit: jk thrice threads are interesting if only for the debates about who’s right and wrong about s*** none of us know for sure
...
scarface theme also in heartless video like
@doublefantasy already pointed out
ive literally had my casino and weeknd posters in my room for years.
It was meant to be
john carpenter/ridley scott for kissland. cronenberg for starboy. and now scorsese/depalma for heartless. i love this man and his cinematic influences
