Recent music fans and discourse have made me despise minimalist, clean, “aesthetic” covers

If you look at the albums that get acclaimed from the rym/Reddit crowd, clean album art is a huge common denominator. Across the board almost every acclaimed album now has that in common

Madvillainy for example got its recent surge before doom died because the cover fit that aesthetic so people would post on the tier lists and s***.

Met someone younger who really judges albums based on how the art looks on streaming too
