hmmmmm. im not sure. a lot of hyper pop artists are lgbtq /they them, im a straight cis guy and I love the hyper pop scene.
I guess what draws me to my favorites like dltzk
is his pure vulnerability and reliableness, despite me not being gay or in high school (also his insane production)
then I love listening to ericdoa who just rides sick production and has some nice writing here n there
of course, sometimes I just wanna hear fun bangers like this
and I like listening to midwxst too that and often writes from his heart n soul

so, I don't think you exactly need to target a certain audience if you wanna make hyper pop. just be urself, be honest, be real, and you will find people that feel the same way.
I think ecco2k (not really hyper pop) does it best with his open writing and interesting production choices
